Press Release - Marjella Alma joins ACCA’s Global Forum for Sustainability

Marjella Alma, CEO and co-founder of Datamaran, the global leader in Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for non-financial risk management, is a new member of ACCA’s (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Global Forum for Sustainability.

With over ten years of specialist experience in ESG disclosure and sustainability, Marjella will bring her insights and views to this Forum of fellow leaders and stakeholders from around the world. Their work articulates the relevance of sustainability issues for the business community and the accountancy profession, while also analysing international trends and developments in sustainability with the aim of shaping ACCA’s policies on this topic.

Marjella’s biography

Marjella Alma is the CEO and co-founder of Datamaran – the global leader in Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for external risk management. It combines Artificial Intelligence, big data analysis and human expertise to capture evidence-based insights into the strategic, regulatory and reputational risks tied to 100 non-financial issues. With its global market of end users, Datamaran’s proprietary software helps businesses to enable data-driven decision-making.

Marjella is a former Director of the Global Reporting Initiative – the most widely used standard for measuring and managing Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues. She joined the GRI headquarters in Amsterdam in 2007 where she successfully set up the Services Department. She became GRI’s youngest female Director at age 30.

With her in-depth knowledge of non-financial disclosure and responsible investing, she has had a front row seat in the corporate strategy space, working directly with Fortune 500 companies across the globe.

In her career to date, Marjella has worked with governments, regulators, international organisations, businesses, civil society, labour, the accountancy profession and the media – she continues to attract new audiences to this space with her diverse global team of the leading ESG and risk management experts as well as data scientists and technology professionals.

Marjella is a member of Telefonica’s Sustainability Stakeholder Advisory Council and Sustainable Development Goals Advisory Committee for UNPRI, she is a recognised emerging thought leader and a keynote speaker on subjects including AI, sustainability and ESG. Marjella has won Game Changer award 2017, and has been nominated for Forward Ladies and Women in IT awards.
